The 3 Lock Bets for Week 8 NFL

Writer's picture: Benjamin HerronBenjamin Herron

It is week 8 of the NFL and after what was one of the worst NFL Sundays I have ever seen, the league owes us something right? With the board of the games looking a lot better than last week, here’s my three locks for week 8. One spread, one moneyline, one over/under. It’s simple, it’s easy and saves me from doing a seven team parlay.

BUCS -5.5 VS SAINTS

Here comes the revenge game for LASIK Jameis Winston. He can finally see and he can eat Ws on his hand but he still isn’t good at football. Winston is good at being an extremely entertaining person but he still is tough to watch on the gridiron.

The name of the game is to make Winston carry most of the load on offense. Force him to throw the ball more and more, and you are in a good spot. That’s exactly what this Bucs defense can do.

The Bucs defense has been struggling this year with numerous injuries in the secondary. However, their front 7 has done a spectacular job up front.

This rush defense is currently the number one rush defense in the NFL. They allow 67 passing yards a game and have only allowed 3 rushing touchdowns this year.

The defense will have a handful with Alvin Kamura but if they can just slow Kamura down a little bit and make Winston throw. Just let Brady and the number 1 passing offense take it from there.

LIONS ML VS EAGLES

Dan Campbell did everything he could last week to win that game besides bite a kneecap off a human being. This week, I expect Campbell to do the same.

The Eagles are sitting at 2-5 and towards disaster mode. They are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Raiders and the Eagles have lost 3 of their last 4 games.

Coach Nick Sirianni has the whole city of Philadelphia on the edge of turning against him with one more embarrassing loss. To handle it, Sirianni decides to compare his team to a flower. This isn’t the first grade Nick, this is the NFL. Lions by a million.

CHARGERS VS PATRIOTS OVER 47.5

The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off a bye and the Patriots are coming off a dominant win against the Jets. Both teams are looking good right now.

Mac Jones is the only rookie QB that has looked consistent and has delivered some big games. Jones has this Patriot offense coming as the Patriots are top 10 offensively in third down conversion rate and points per drive.

Not to mention, Jones is third in completion percentage in the NFL. Patriots should be able to continue their hot streak on the ground as the Chargers are one of the worst rushing defenses in the league. Look for the Patriot offense to be successful.

On the other side, Justin Herbert looks like a top tier QB in the NFL and could arguably be mentioned for MVP. Herbert has the Chargers top ten in passing yards per game and 7th in passing yards per game. The Chargers are also 13th in points per game.

The Chargers average 24.7 points a game and the Patriots average 25.6 points a game. Yes the Patriots are a little juiced from destroying the Jets but it still stands that both offenses should have a day.

Tail my picks, fade my picks, just have a good Sunday NFL game day. Just don’t be the guy that takes the unders. No one likes that guy.
